9ff have brought out the GT9-R, the sequel to the GT9 which set a top speed of 254mph. This car is based on the Porsche GT3, however the original GT3 has been extensively modified, with almost all the metal panels being replaced with carbon fiber and kevlar panels. On top of this the engine displacement has been increased to 4 litres and 2 large turbos have been added on. The 6 cylinder engine in the GT9 produced a crazy 987bhp.
Not only did they increase the power drastically but as any top company looking to break records does they shed weight, a whole load of weight. The GT9 weighed in at 1,326Kg, 70kg less than the stock GT3, despite having over twice the power. The GT9 accelerated from 0-300km/h in 17.6 seconds, 0.6 seconds faster than the Veyron.
The GT9 set a record top speed for road legal cars of 409km/h on a test track in April 2008, but as can be expected this was never going to be enough. The GT9-R boasts a 133hp and 64 ft-lbs power increase on the GT9, resulting in a crazy 1120hp and 774 ft-lbs! They also modified the body of the car enabling it to corner sharper than the GT9.
There is nothing else out on the car at the moment, but it is highly likely that it will be unveiled in the Essen Motor Show and expect it to be breaking some more records some time in the near future.

I rather have the GT3 RS … … with this engine in it. =P
That would be incredible!
GT3 RS is one of my favourite cars!
It’s one of my favorites as well, but I think we both already knew that.
