I already had a post prepared for today with some Voltex sketches of a new aero kit they are working on, however I was so shocked by this I just had to post it, saving the Voltex work to heal sore eyes!
Anliker: SLR ‘Red Gold Dream’ (should have named it nightmare!)
As you know I have something of a personal hatred for the way some ‘top of the line’ tuners have modified the SLR. From my perspective I believe everyone who has touched the car has destroyed it in every sense. Then came along Anliker, a Swiss design company owned by Ueli Anliker. Just a quick look at their website gives you the idea that the guy can’t really be much of a designer at all, allowing his name to appear on something so cheap and terrible looking! When he manages to work his ‘magic’ on cars … well you can see for yourselves.
All the metal on the car is supposedly 24 carat gold, including the exhaust tips, the rims and much of the interior. They even went as far as to embed the name of the designer in ruby within the car! From the gold to the bodykit - they opted for a horrible ASMA style snowplough front, extending the overall length of the car. Then the side bears a distastefully done side-skirt, with rolled up gold exhaust tips featuring Anliker logo across the exhaust tips! The rear gets no better - a wing that looks entirely out of place on an SLR and a hideous rear diffuser, again sporting the Anliker logo!

Anliker claim the modifications do have a practical use, with the snowplough front adding 100kg of downforce, the spoiler adding 150kg and the rear diffuser adding 80kg at 350km/h. To be honest I don’t care if these figures are correct as the car is so terrible looking it doesn’t matter how good it is aerodynamically - the stock car seems good enough for McLaren and thus I’m sure aerodynamically it’s good enough for the rest of us!
I thought I would leave the funny part to the end - the price, a mind-blowing £2.95 million!! I think I will take a stock SLR, a Pagani Zonda R, a Veyron and create a bunch of custom cars instead!

And the designer - notice the resemblance between himself and his final creation!

(1 minute silence for this poor SLR - lost but never forgotten :p)

“And the designer - notice the resemblance between himself and his final creation!”
Yeah, a total wanker!
LOL I thought you would say that!
Should have called it Assliker!
He can’t even display the car in a remotely pleasant way. I mean he’s got that huge platform and all he could come up with is a less than intricate layout of mirrors to show the underside of the car? For crying out loud, that was out dated in the mid 90’s. No wonder he’s pulling ladies that look like they’ve been hit in the face with a tire iron one too many times.
Did you get a chance to check out his website? Being a web designer I am sure you would love a look at that!
I’ll give you 1 guess as to where the car is for sale …
