Bentley Continental Supersports

The Bentley Continental Supersporst is the fastest car Bentley have ever produced, with a top speed of 204 mph, 0-60 mph in 3.7s and 100 mph in 8.9s. Based on the Continental GT the Supersports is both lighter and more powerful. A large array of ‘light’ materials were used, including a substantial amount of carbon fiber, meaning the Supersport weighs in at 4,938 pounds, 220 pounds lighter than the GT Speed. They have also worked hard on the twin turbo 6.0l W12, increasing total power to 621 hp (78 more than the Continental GT) and 590 ft-lbs torque.

The car is a work of art. The sleek lines are accentuated beautifully at the rear, making the car stand worlds apart from the Continental GT. The interior is just everything you would expect from a Bentley and noting you would expect from a car that hits 60 mph in 3.7s.

The front however is the part that I like the least. I am not a fvan of those taller side vents and would have gone for something slightly more elaborate to match the rest of the car.

A new Quickshift box has been added to the Supersports, that is said to switch gears twice as fast as the previous version! As well as the geatbox the Supersport’s rear axle has a 50mm wider track width than the GT and GT Speed, behaving better on the road and especially at the track. Power is put down via a 4 wheel drive system with a 40/60 pattern.

The Supersports has been spotted lapping the Nurburgring in Germany. All the car fans will know this is regarded as one of the toughest courses in the world, with the Nordschleife consisting of about 100 corners and a total length of 12.9 miles. It has been the subject of intense media speculation in the last 6 months with claims and counter claims of Porsche and Nissan regarding the superb lap times of the GT-R. This time it is a luxury Bentley (aka the wild beast) taking on the circuit - Just listen to that sound! As you will see from the video although the Supersport is a heavy car is seems to handle very well. Now I wonder if a lap time will be released.
